NYU Shuttle Redesign

Role: UX Designer/Researcher

Date: November 2023

Background:

Being a student at NYU who has to travel from Manhattan to Brooklyn I’ve had to deal with my fare share of hardships on trying to get back and forth quickly and affordably. Yes there is the subway, but that keeps getting more and more expensive, so many of us NYU students choose to take the shuttles provided by NYU. The issue being that the app and information given by NYU is much more confusing than it should be.

That’s why me and some friends decided to redesign it for a class project.

Keep reading below to find out more 😀

Starting out

We began by creating a mind map in order to generate the things we wanted out of the new design.

Using Fig-jam allowed us to put all of our ideas into one place.

Gathering User Data

Before starting our redesign we also wanted to gather feedback from our peers in order to gather even more information on what people liked or did not like about the current design of the NYU Shuttle App. After interviewing we summarized our findings.

Summarized User Findings

Branding

Since we wanted to improve on the entire design we not only changed the layout but the branding as well. Making the App feel more enjoyable for everyone who uses it.

Building The Prototype

After gathering the user data we began creating the final iteration of our prototype. We tried to base the prototype off of the layout and feel of google and apple maps. Giving the users a familiar environment where they can feel at home.
